I was curious about some of the negative experiences people have had with Chinese girls. Some people have touched on the issue but I don't think there has been a post dedicated to it.

Maybe you could start the list?

I know that you and your girlfriend are relatively in the beginning of your relationship.

Yet you could share the negatives you found (which you  think are specific to Chinese girls).

So, you really want to open up this can of worms. First off 90% of Chinese women I've dated that didn't have money could only think about money. No sentiment, strictly a business deal. Chinese women are emotionally stunted just like their male counterparts. Stubborn and immaturity have been my biggest complaints with women here. Confused

Well I guess I got lucky then. The only thing that bugged me about my girlfriend was that she would throw a tantrum/pout when she didn't get her way. But I learned a long time ago to put a stop to that behavior early on. I made it clear that I wouldn't put up with it and ever since then it hasn't been a problem. Nothing else really comes to mind. She isn't materialistic. A bit naive but that's to be expected from a young Chinese woman I guess. I've just heard a few nightmare stories where the Chinese gf/wife beats her man and whatnot. And Crystal, are you saying that you are materialistic, stubborn and immature? I don't believe it!Wink

Throwing a tantrum is pretty common I guess.   Throw a bigger tantrum.   I used to go out with this girl who tried that throwing-a-tantrum' -beep- with me so I threw a bigger one.  My one involved throwing stuff out the window.

Cool

Crystal, I'm buying your not materealistic {spelling} and immature yet the stubborn thing is definitely something any Chinese cannot say they are. Chinese will go to their dying grave before they admitted to being wrong about anything. People in China get something in their mind and not will change it. Sorted of twisted way of saviving the proverbial supposed face. Face what a farce. YellYell

Hmm, this is a trap! Cool

If I don't agree with you – you will say: "You see? You can't admit when you are wrong. Such a stubborn girl!"

And if I agree – then: "OK, so you agreed that you are stubborn."

nice topic… enough got me to register… XD

how can i say… i don't know if im a part of chinese or not… in fact chinese people didn't looking at overseas chinese as a part of chinese…

and also in other country, overseas chinese also can't play any roll… that's what happened few years ago…

i do agree, if u said that  a chinese girl mostly materialistic, stubborn and immature but not at all… maybe mostly like that, i meet a lot and i seen a lot even in my hometown…

but, look back in the past, i thought, there're a few reasons that they're just being that way… imho….

being poor in other country like usa, european, or other big country, it doesn't matter when u can just take any job or any parttime and it's more than enough to feed ur self…

but, it's different when u live in a country, where do u born and being treated as a foreigner… or in a country where u have to fight even for an parttime job…

it's another story…

Is it common for Chinese women to be less an "open book" about internalized experiences ? Less open about deeper heartfelt feelings or pain (hurts) from the past ?

Hello All ….especially you Crystal- I promise that I will post on this topic, but I am going to wait until I get back from Nanning in April. If Ping is my Lao Po -then her Lao Gong will post ……Nope no bad experiences here!!  Wink

If she doesn't show up at the airport again, or leaves me at the altar then be prepared for a very long postingLaugh

I will tell you all (Crystal knows already) that James started his relationship with A Chinese girl who wasn't "offically"  divorced yet-I promise you Crystal that I will do a guest article, I have just been very busy with lawyers -paperwork and such. I hope you understand and forgive me.  Your friend and forever in your debt James

Yup, James has some "bad" experience.

Hope that he soon will share about it with us.

But more than that I hope that things will work well for him with Ping.

I've had one epically bad experience as well, but here's a less intense one I can share to add to the "stubbornness" idea.

I met one girl online a few years back.  After talking to her several times on MSN, we decided to meet.  This was in my first year of teaching, so I was insanely busy pretty much all the time, but especially during the week.  However, she insisted we meet on a Wednesday night.  So I finally capitulated, asking where we should meet.  She wanted me to come to her end of Beijing – Haidian.  However, I lived on the complete opposite end of town – Yizhuang.  Keep in mind (if you're in Beijing) that this was when there was still only three subway lines (1, 2, 13).  I tried explaining to her that I wouldn't be off work until after 5pm, which would mean battling traffic and probably not getting to Haidian until close to 8.  That would leave me about an hour before I had to turn around and head back!  Ok, so do it, she insisted.  I tried to persuade her to just meet halfway!  Let's meet in the centre of town, then we each have to travel the same distance.  Nope, she insisted, not interested.  Either you come to Haidian, or we don't meet.  So I said "Fine, I guess we're not meeting", then proceeded to delete and block her from my MSN list.

With an attitude like that, wouldn't be surprised if she were a sheng niu right now…

If you don't know much about her side of town that she stays in.  Don't ever bother going there.  The most annoying thing is to travel all the way there and then she expects you to reccomend the places to go.  Happened to me before.  I haven't been to one restaurant in that area.  ANd I'm not familiar with nearby areas either.  Decided to go for any Korean restaurant.  You can't go wrong with Korean when Chinese girls also like Korean food!
