in just under 4 weeks time i will be flying back towards HK, its for my MBA course to do international business stuff "in market" which is HK and GZ. a few days later my girl will join me in HK but she will probably head up to SZ for a few days for some of her own business. and then we will fly to changsha for together to meet her parents, we will have five days in changsha and then back to HK for a few more and then back to NZ
i dont know too much about her parents – any tips?? what should i be expecting???

OfflineWell, this is one of those scenarios when you would prefer to have the "language barrier".
Prepare yourself to being asked a lot of questions.
Anyway, to some extent you might enjoy reading these 3 posts from the blog:

Carbacca, this is an English site, just so you know… some here speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese, but you will have noticed that the posts are in English because many don't. Just FYI, in case you wanted anyone other than Crystal to know what you're saying (and if you just want to talk to her, send her a PM).
thanks

OfflineIt's odd, but I understood about 50% of what carbacca said from living in china for a long while.
I never had any formal training and I can't write without a Pinyin IME, but I still understood.
Cause I'm awesome!

OfflineElijah, there must be a new understanding of literacy in this age: I can't for the life of me take out a pencil and write many Chinese characters correctly, but I can use the pinyin-to-characters software faster and more accurately than my Chinese wife!
