OfflineDon't know if you'll count it in but saw Zhang Yimou's Flowers of War this week. Batman falls in love with a Nanjing prostitute during the war with Japan. Worth watching…

More about the movie - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1410063/
I'm sure you can find it online all over the Chinese web, if you search a bit.

Sorry about that. I'm new to this forum and still trying to figure out how to use the forum. I'll try to check out that movie. Right now the movie recently came out and all the copies I find are poor qualities. I'm surprise that Christian Bale would do a foreign film after the success he has with Batman the Dark Knight movies. Zhang Yimou is a good Chinese director and another good one is John Woo. I don't know if you ever see Hero and House of Daggers. Zhang Yimou directed those and I actually been to the place where they film the movie Hero.
Well I hope to get more movie ideas.

OfflineAhhh, actually you kinda got me. There was a time when I rented out every film I could, every film that Jeremy Irons was in… well, that was a long time ago :P I even saw Kafka (boring as -beep-, no one knows this film exists) and Dead Ringer (creepy as -beep-, only a few creeps know this film exists) simply because of… oh Jeremy! :)
I think M. Butterfly is available on youtube. And it's claimed to be based on a true story. I saw it twice; once when I was nuts about Jeremy Irons, and for the second time, in class discussing orientalism :)
Another one that came to my mind later was Double Happiness: http://www.answers.com/topic/d…..ess-film-1
The setting's in Canada. Sandra Oh is amazing in the film, playing a Chinese Canadian girl stuck (?) in between super traditional family and her dream and love interest (a 'laowi' her family would say). I think it's a good one :)
Hah… there gotta be more. Are we lacking film resources about the interethnic/crosscultural relationships concerning Asians? Nonsense! There gotta be more!

No problem. I glad that helped out for you. Lately, I been searching Chinese films. I found a new movie named Shanghai. If you search you might want to search Shanghi film, movie or 2010. It has actor John Cusack, Gong Li, and Chow Yun-fat. 2 of the most famous actor and actress in China. It's not really a love story. More of a war mystery set during time anti-Japanese War. It's a decent movie worth checking out. Recently, I been watching a lot of director Zhang Yimou and John Woo movies. Also, I been watching Jet Li and Jackie Chan. Their non American movies of course.
My opinion I think Chinese cinematography is much better. Anyway if you like Gong Li you may want to check her out in the film Miami Vice. She plays a gf to Collin Farrell character.
Best wishes to all as well..
